So I recently hurt my back lifting furniture for a friend. I went to the doctor and he sent me home with a new prescription pain medication. However, I don't think the recommended dosage is enough. Is it safe for me to slightly adjust the amount, not enough to make me sick, but just enough to take care of this pain?
"Taking a little more" rarely stops at that. If it was just modifying one dosage early on in the recovery, that would be one thing, it just usually results in more and more dosage.
Is this a joke? Please don't take more than you are instructed. The consequences can be deadly. Seriously....this site is called "use only as directed". I am having a hard time believing this is a real post.
I would say go see your doctor. No harm. It's always nice to check in and see what they recommend. I guess it's kind of like trying to fix your car's engine, but not knowing how. Better take it to a garage.

Your doctor needs to know

Your doctor needs to know that your current dose isn't treating your pain. Your doctor may have more solutions than you think. If you're using ONLY medication for the pain, there are a lot more strategies you can try, like heat, physical therapy, exercise/stretching, etc. Medication alone won't cut it.
